利蘭勝利二型 Leyland Victory Mk 2

在七十年代中期，隨著政府大力發展新市鎮及海底隧道通車，巴士公司需要引入大量新車應急，但由於香港有不少陡斜之路面，第一代後置引擎巴士又未能擔此重任，故此巴士公司在新車來源上，重新研究引進前置引擎巴士之可行性，而其中一個考慮因素就是新車必需能夠適合一人控制。終於，在一九七六年，九巴從南非引入四架佳牌勝利J型巴士，在試用新車後，發覺新巴士有若干設計是可取，而在之後時間，英國利蘭車廠眼見對手丹尼士已經研製一款新款前置引擎巴士，於是便立即從勝利J型底盤設計上作出改良，而這就是在港家傳戶曉之勝利二型，在全盛時期，九巴總共擁有五百四十輛勝利二型，當中一架更曾經是用作空調巴士，而在拆除空調系統後，該車被編作勝利二型最後一員(G544)。全數勝利二型由九十年代初開始，漸漸被新款三軸巴士取代，而最後一批勝利二型，於一九九八年三月三十一日離開載客行列。部份勝利二型於退役後曾被改作訓練巴士，培育車長，但這批勝利二型也全數於九八年尾至九九年初退役。

After the commencing of the Cross Harbour Tunnel and the developing of new town, bus companies had to introduce a lot of new buses to meet the demand, but most of the road in Hong Kong was steep and narrow, the performance of the first generation rear-engined bus was poor in these road conditions which make the bus companies decided to find a new front-engined bus types, one of the factor that the bus companies considered were the bus should suitable for "One Man Operation". In 1976, KMB introduced four Guy Victory J from South Africa and found that some of the design of the bus was suitable for the operation in Hong Kong. As Dennis had been developed a new  front-engined bus-Jubilant, Leyland, therefore, developed Victory MK 2 on the basis of Victory J. KMB had a fleet of 540 Victory MK 2 including one air-conditioned coach (Fleet no. was G544 after removal of the air-conditioning unit). All of them were replaced by the new three-axle bus models from early 90s and the last Victory was withdrawn on 31, March, 1998. Some of the Victory was converted into training bus for driver training but all of these training buses were withdrawn between  late 1998 and early 1999.
