來自英國的利蘭 Leyland Olympian from CCB

利蘭奧林比安在香港深受多家巴士營運歡迎,自一九八一年首批兩軸樣板車到港後,在往後十年都能爭取不少訂單,款式繼有兩軸版本外,還包括由兩軸版衍生出來的十二米及十一米三軸版本,以及其後大行其道的三軸空調版本。隨著利蘭巴士部門被富豪於一九八八年收購,標誌著利蘭這個名字將由富豪所取代,而在本港最後投入服務的全新利蘭巴士是九巴的S3BL470(GB2444),一架非空調版本的十一米奧林比安。不過,最後登陸香港的利蘭巴士,卻是兩架來自英國的二手利蘭巴士。

一九九六年,百勝旅運向英國倫敦的首都城巴,購入兩架於一九八九年出廠,配用亞歷山大的RL型車身的奧林比安。兩部巴士在新出牌時都是屬於首都城巴前身Ensign Bus,車隊編號分別是124(G124 YEV)及127(G127 YEV)。兩架車於運往本港之前除了先行於英國進行改裝成開蓬巴士工程外,還更換一台符合歐盟一型排放標準的康明斯引擎,以符合當時本港出牌要求。兩架奧林比安於抵港完成相關驗車及出牌程序後,於一九九六年十一月分別登記為GZ6968及GZ1998。

兩架利蘭奧林比安在百勝旅運服役至二零一四年八月,被轉售至另一家本地旅行社金亮香港旅運,因應針對商用車排放要求條例進一步收緊,GZ6968先行於二零一五年十二月退役,而GZ1998則獲續牌,唯最終跟GZ6968一樣,於二零一六年四月被全新的猛獅A95開蓬巴士取代,亦標誌著本港路面上再沒有任何利蘭巴士行走。

Since the arrival of first 5 demonstrators, Leyland Olympian was widely welcomed by different operators in Hong Kong and instead of the 2-axle version, both 11m and 12m 3-axle variants and the later air conditioned version can be easily found anywhere in Hong Kong. The acquisition by Volvo in 1988 indicated Leyland would be eventually replaced by Volvo and the last brand new Leyland registered in Hong Kong is belonged to KMB, a 3-axle 11m variant, S3BL470(GB2444). However, the very last Leyland bus to be entered service in Hong Kong, is a pair of second-hand bus from UK.

Pak Shing Travel purchased a pair of Leyland Olympian from Capital Citybus (CCB) of London, UK in 1996, this pair of Leyland Olympian, 124 (G124 YEV) and 127 (G127 YEV) was new to Ensign Bus (the former of CCB) in 1989 and fitted with Walter Alexander RL-type bodywork. Before shipped to Hong Kong, they were undergone conversion work to a open-topper and re-fitted with a Euro 1 emission standard Cummins engine to cope with the emission compliance in Hong Kong. They were registered as GZ6968 and GZ1998 respectively in Nov., 1996.

Both ex-CCB Leyland served with Pak Shing Travel for 18 years and finally sold to another local tour agency Goldspark HK Tours Ltd. in Aug., 2014. As government introduced a stricter commercial vehicles emission policy, GZ6968 was retired in Dec., 2015 while GZ1998 with it registration renewed, however, GZ1998 finally withdrawn in Apr., 2016 after a private hiring event and no more Leyland running on the road in HK afterwards. Their place was replaced by the brand new MAN A95 with open-top bodywork by Gemilang, Malaysia.
