都城嘉慕都城型 Metro Cammell Weymann Metrobus

於八十年代，九巴分別先後從三大廠家引進第三代後置引擎巴士，而都城嘉慕車廠向九巴提供之巴士，就是對岸巴士公司早己引進及營運之都城型，不同的是，所有九巴新巴士雖然採用原廠車身，但全數九巴都城型都是屬於第二型。

九巴於一九八三年至八五年，先後引進八十架都城型巴士，其中首三十架之路線牌箱之面積是較後五十架為細，除了M58-60這三架巴士，其餘巴士在機械配搭方面完全相同。再說M58-60，它們是整隊都城型巴士中，最先採用大馬力康明斯引擎，以測試行走陡斜路面時之表現。

由於效果理想，九巴於八九年再次購入八輛配康明斯引擎之爬山版都城巴士(M81-88)，用以行走往返荃灣碼頭及錦田之51路線，取代行將退役之亞比安單層巴士，而是批巴士亦成為九巴車隊中，唯一一批配茶色玻璃窗之兩車軸雙層巴士。可惜荃錦公路之路面環境實在非常惡劣，令到八架都城巴士吃不消，於是乎九巴需要改裝其他較早期之都城巴士接替它們，接受行走51之艱鉅任務，而原先之八架巴士則換回吉拿引擎，行走普通路線。可惜的是，大部份接受改裝行走51之早期都城型巴士，在服務完51路線後，便需要退役。

另外，車隊編號M15之都城型巴士，於一九九七年被改裝作訓練巴士，成為訓練學校唯一一架兩車軸都城訓練巴士，但此車已於二零零二年正式退役。而截至二零零二年十一月尾為止，九巴一共只有七架都城型巴士仍然服務乘客，主要用作九龍灣車廠後備車及主力服務29M之用，隨著29M於二零零三年中改作全空調服務後，兩軸都城巴士也於九月完成了它的歷史史命。

In the 1980s, KMB introduced third generation rear-engined buses from three different manufacturers and Metro Cammell Weymann (MCW) supplied KMB with Metrobus and all body-kits supplied by MCW too. Metrobus already operated by the bus company on the Island since late 1970s, however, all KMB Metrobuses are Mk II while those serving in CMB are Mk I.

The first 80 Metrobuses were introduced between 1983 and 1985. Despite smaller route indicator box was chosen on M1-30 while larger one was chosen on M31-80, the specification of all Metrobuses (except M58 -60) are the same. M58-60 are the first three Metrobus fitted with powerful Cummins engine to test the performance on steep road and as their good performance , KMB then ordered 8 similar buses (M81-88) for route 51, operated between Tsuen Wan Ferry and Kam Tin, which Albion single decker used to serve this route. It should be mentioned that M81-88 are the only batch of 2-axle buses fitted with tea-liked colour windows in KMB fleet.

The conditions of Route TWISK is so terrible that made those Metrobus designated for route 51 wear so fast and thus, KMB need to immediate convert other Metrobus of early stage to replace them. Unfortunately, most of the early batch Metrobus forced to retire after their duties on route 51.

M15 was converted to be a training bus at 1997 and it is the only 2-axle Metrobus in KMB training school and withdrawn in 2002. Until late Nov., 2002, KMB still operated 7 Metrobus and mainly used on route 29M or as reserve of Kowloon Bay Depot. This batch of Metrobuses was finally withdrawn in Sep., 2003 after full air conditioned bus service provided on 29M.
