二零一零年十一月,香港科學園舉辦了創新科技嘉年華,向巿民大眾介紹不同領域的環保產品,當中包括電動私家車以至電動巴士,而且更讓有駕駛執照的巿民,可以一嘗駕駛電動車的滋味。來自中國山東的華廈神龍,於展覽中向公眾展出了一架雙層及兩架單層,以國內規格建造的左軚駕駛的電動巴士,同時在活動舉行期間,安排了其中一架單層電動巴士,免費接載市民巡遊於科學園內,吸引了為數不少參觀者排隊試搭。在展覽會結束之後,華廈神龍安排一架電動單層巴士於本港不同地區,當中包括愉景灣區內進行試車,為日後引進及推廣電動巴士舖路。
二零一一年政府成立綠色運輸試驗基金,鼓勵業界引進另類燃料車輛或其他相關設備,以改善路邊空氣質素及碳排放問題。透過相關資助,愉景灣亦開始了引進電動巴士作試驗的籌備工作,經過一輪招標程序之後,華廈神龍成功奪得建造相關設施及供應兩架電動巴士的合約。華廈神龍為愉景灣提供的是旗下的飛燕LS-150-105低地台電動巴士,兩架新車於二零一四年六月運抵本港,隨於八月交付到愉景灣,以進一步進行為期兩年的試驗。
從型號名稱得知,巴士全長有十點五米,而兩部華廈神龍電動巴士最特別的地方,是尾車軸偏後,型成較短的尾跨。愉景灣交通服務有限公司的標準車廂設計,悉數都能在這架電動巴士上找到,這包括輪椅停泊位置及設在上車門供輪椅上落的斜板,以及位於外側的行李架。至於橙色LED電子路線牌箱,則是由Hanover提供的產品。過往電動巴士的前軸上方,因為需預留地方作擺放電池,而被密封起來,不設任何車窗,但華廈神龍電動巴士上,其設計有所改良,電池只佔去相關位置一半,餘下空間則闢作車窗使用,使車廂環境變得更加明亮。整部華廈神龍電動巴士可以運載五十七名乘客,包括二十六個座位,跟車隊中其他中型單層巴士不遑多樣。
經過數個月的測試及完成一切出牌前必要的程序,兩部電動巴士於二零一四年十一月初領取行車牌照,接替兩架一九九七年投入服務的丹尼士飛鏢低地台巴士,並隨於同年十二月二十二日首航8號線,之後愉景灣安排兩架電動巴士主要行走區內的2/3及8號線,穿梭於愉景灣碼頭及區內住宅區之間。兩部電動巴士在服務乘客初期,表現尚算可靠及能夠為乘客提供一個安全舒適的車程,只可惜自二零一五年年初開始,兩車均出現問題而需留廠維修,直到二零一七年年中,其中一架華廈神龍電動巴士(DBAY116/TA3408)才再次活躍於路面上,主要行走區內9A路線。
Hong Kong Science Park organized a InnoCarnival 2010 in Nov., 2010 promoting different environmental products, including electric cars and buses, to the general public. Visitors with valid driving license can experience to drive a electric car around the Science Park. During the carnival, GDEV from Shangdong, China, showing a pair of electric single decker and a electric double decker. All these exhibits are build based on the mainland standard and left-hand drive and one of the single decker, was arranged to participate a free ride event, and let the general public can take it as a chance to ride on a electric bus within the Science Park. To go one step further, GDEV arranged a single decker electric bus carry out road test in different area (including Discovery Bay) in Hong Kong.
HKSAR Government established Pilot Green Transport Fund in 2011 to assist different Transport operators introduce any types of vehicles and related equipment with green technology. The 2-yeras evaluation of electric bus running in Discovery Bay was based on this funding and after a series of tender, DBTSL finally acquired a pair of electric bus and related facilities from GDEV. The model that GDEV provided is Fei Yan LS-150-105, it is very easy to know the length of the bus is 10.5m from the nomination of the model name. SDL6105EVG is low floor design and the two samples for DBTSL was delivered to Hong Kong in Jun ., 2014 and finally arrived at Discovery Bay in Aug ,. 2014.
The GDEV electric bus featured with a very short rear hang and the interior is in the DBTSL standard including the wheelchair parking bay, wheelchair ramp located at the entrance and the luggage racks. Hanover orange coloured electronic route display is fitted on these GDEV electric bus. As to provide spaces for the battery, there are usually no windows fitted on the front axle of a electric bus in the past, however, the battery of the DBTSL GDEV buses did not occupy the whole part of the bodywork and allowed a half-portion window to be fitted, hence,a brighter cabin can be resulted.
This pair of GDEV electric bus received their license in Nov., 2014 after completed all essential process and testing and indicated that the withdrawal of the pair of Dennis Dart SLF with Plaxton Pointer bodywork entered service in 1997. The total capacity of the GDEV electric bus is 57 passengers with 26 seats offered. The GDEV electric bus made their maiden trip on route 8 on 22 Dec., 2014. DBTSL mainly deployed them on internal shuttle service 2/3 and 8 linking the residence and Ferry Pier.
The performance of this pair GDEV electric bus is satisfactory when they first entering service, however, they had to stay at the depot due to mechanical failure since early 2015. One of the GDEV electric bus (DBAY116/TA3408) returned to the road in mid. of 2017 and mainly serving on internal route 9A.
