平治O405/O405G Mercedes Benz O405/O405G

平治O405是新捷運繼富豪B10M之後,擁有最多的單層巴士車款,達七百部之多,如果計算SMRT擁有的平治O405以及其掛接版本O405G,其數量更超越富豪B10M。

跟富豪B10M一樣 ,新加坡是擁有最多平治O405的亞洲國家,一九九零年,當時的新加坡巴士公司向平治先後購進四百及三百部平治O405巴士,底盤全數在德國曼海姆製造後才付運新加坡裝配車身。在合計七百架新車當中,五百架是新車時已經裝上空調系統,當中二百架配上亞歷山大的PS型車身,餘數則裝配都普車身,而餘下二百架O405底盤全數裝上都普非空調外裳。跟富豪B10M及Scania N113CRB一樣,非空調版本的平治O405也於二零零零至零一年加裝空調成為空調巴士。

至於SMRT的O405,則是於TIBS年代購入,TIBS由一九九四年至一九九九年,分批引進共三百二十三架O405,除了一九九九年最後一批共十五架的O405是採用澳洲Volgren車身,其餘全數採用西班牙的Hispano Carrocera車身,跟新捷運一樣,目前全數平治O405是全空調巴士,但當中若干本是非空調巴士,到早年才追加空調設備。一九九六年,TIBS引進了掛接版的O405G,直到二零零零年,合共三百一十五架O405G投入服務,車身除了由Hispano Carrocera供應,最後期的O405G則裝配Volgren供應的車身。

新捷運的O405正陸陸續續從車隊中退下,而TIBS的O405及O405G則仍然活躍於車隊中,部份O405更進行了車廂翻新工程。

Singapore having the most Mercedes Benz O405 in the Asian countries and already outnumbered the Volvo B10M. SBS Transit had a fleet of 700 Mercedes Benz O405 and already the second most single decker in the fleet. In addition, SMRT also run a fleet of O405 and the articulated version O405G.

The Mercedes Benz O405 in SBS Transit were introduced by SBS in 1990 with 2 batches of 400 and 300 respectively. All O405 chassis were manufactured in Mannheim, Germany and then delivered to Singapore. All Mercedes Benz O405 received their bodyworks supplied by Walter Alexander and Duple Metsec in Singapore. 500 of them were air-conditioned (200 fitted with Alexander bodyworks and 300 fitted with Duple Metsec bodyworks) and the remaining were non air-conditioned. During 2000 and 2001, those conventional Mercedes Benz O405 were converted into air-conditioned as the Volvo B10M and Scania N113CRB did at the same time.

TIBS introduced Mercedes Benz O405 from 1994 to 1999 and totally 323 were introduced. Except the final batch of 15 were bodied by Volgren from Australia, the remaining were bodied by Hispano Carrocera. Like those in SBS Transit, the non air-con. O405 were converted to air-con and at present, all SMRT Mercedes Benz O405 were fully air-conditioned. In 1996, TIBS started to introduced the articulated O405G and till 2000, 315 samples were joined with TIBS and all of them bodied by Hispano Carrocera and Volgren.

The O405s of SBS Transit started to discommision from service while those in SMRT still active in service with some undergone cabin refurbishment.
