在先後購入來自中國的大型低地台單層巴士以及單層電動巴士後，新創建交通服務有限公司於二零一六年招標購買新車時候，包括了十架長十米的單層巴士。經過招標程序後，最終亞歷山大丹尼士Enviro200MMC獲得垂青，不過訂單數量由十架修改為五架，並全數由新巴營運，成為自二零一七年年初丹尼士飛鏢退役後，再一次有英國製造單層巴士加入新巴車隊。新巴再次購買中型單層低地台巴士，主要是為了應付惡劣天氣環境下，尤其颱風吹襲香港前後，仍能替路面受限制地區例如石澳道，大潭水壩及山頂道的巴士路線，為乘客提供有限度服務。

全數亞歷山大丹尼士Enviro200MMC全長十點七米，並於英國完成車身裝嵌後才付運抵港，是新巴車隊中第一款符合歐六排放標準的柴油驅動巴士，動力配搭為康明斯引擎配搭福伊特全自動波箱。至於Enviro200MMC的空調系統及電子牌箱，則是常見的日本電裝及Hanover產品。新巴Enviro200MMC最大特色，在於其車尾頂部天窗得到保留，增加透入車廂車尾部份光線，為乘客營造一個更加透亮的乘坐環境。

首架Enviro200MMC於二零一七年七月一日經海路運抵本港，餘下四架新車亦於隨後時間交付新巴，經過近半年時間進行驗車及投入服務前預備工作，首架新車2501(VD1333)於同年十一月二十日登記出牌，並於十二月一日首航往返中環大會堂及半山旭龢道的13號線。在2501投入服務不久後，其餘四架Enviro200MMC亦完成行車登記，開始在路面上服務乘客。新巴在新車投入服務初期，指定Enviro200MMC只能行走13，15C及81路線，直到稍後時間，服務版圖才得以進一步擴展，在25，26，27，63，以至東區海底隧道通宵路線N691，都曾出現過它們的蹤影。

NWS Transport acquired a batch of 5 Alexander Dennis Enviro200MMC in 2016 after the introduction of the China-made buses including both diesel-powered super low floor and pure electric single decker in the recent years. To provide limit bus service in Shek O, Tai Tam and The Peak during adverse weather especially after the typhoon, NWS Transport tendered a batch of 10 midibuses and finally a batch of 5 Envio200MMC was ordered and allocated to NWFB, the first British made single decker since the Dennis Dart commissioned in 1998.

The Alexander Dennis Enviro200MMC is 10.7m in length and assembled in UK before delivery to Hong Kong. The Euro 6 emission standard Cummins engine, first seen in NWFB, is driven with a fully automatic gearbox supplied from Voith. Denso air conditioning and Hanover route display commonly find in Hong Kong also can be seen on this batch of Enviro200MMC. Moreover, passengers can have a enjoyable riding experience as better cabin illumination resulted from the rear skyview, an distinctive feature of the Enviro200MMC.

The first Enviro200MMC delivered to Hong Kong on 1 Jul., 2017 and registered on 20 Nov., 2017. The maiden trip of this first Enviro200MMC (2501/VD1333) made on 1 Dec. 2017 serving route 13 running between City Hall and Kotewall Road. When all Alexander Dennis Enviro200MMC first entering service, they were assigned serving route 13, 15C and 81 only with more routes can be served afterwards including 25, 26, 27, 63 and overnight Eastern Harbour service N691.
