青年JNP6122GR1 YoungMan JNP6122GR1

中國製造的巴士出現在香港巴士歷史，要數到九十年代初，城巴向北方尼奧普蘭購入三架BN316單層巴士，隨後當香港回歸中國之後，駐港解放軍亦擁有一批北方尼奧普蘭製造的單層巴士，但中國製巴士之後便無以為繼。直到二零零四年，旅遊巴士中開始出現有國產巴士，而且品牌亦愈來愈多，打破了過往由日本製造巴士壟斷的局面，自此之後，國產巴士在旅遊巴士及非專利巴士中站穩了陣腳，並佔有一定的巿場份額。
至於專利巴士及城巿巴士仍然是以歐洲品牌作為主流，但並非代表完全跟國內製造商沒有關係，一九九五年，一架九巴利蘭奧林比安因為車身焚燬而被安排換上一個由廣州穗景客車廠提供的車身，及後更有香港專利巴士偶爾由國內客車製造商組裝由英國生產的車身組件，這個現象尤其到了二零零九年更為明顯。首款登陸香港的國產城巿巴士是由香港機場地勤公司於二零零九年購入，隨後，大巴士觀光香港遊亦引進了安凱製造的開蓬巴士，但一般巿民要感受國產巴士的乘坐感覺，也並非一件易事。直到嶼巴於二零零九年向中國青年汽車集團訂購九架JNP6122GR1大型低地台巴士，這個情況才得以改變，同時替香港專利巴士寫下歷史新一頁。
青年汽車集團是一間中外合資企業，設有商用車，乘用車及汽車部件生產子集團。青年與來自德國的Neoplan，猛獅及英國蓮花合作，於國內生產及銷售Neoplan客車，猛獅重型卡車，以及與蓮花集團合作研發轎車。話說回來這次嶼巴購入的JNP6122GR1，原廠車身骨架技術採自Neoplan，並採用車身底盤一體化，無大樑式底盤設計，而動力來自德國猛獅歐五排放引擎，採用福伊特波箱，而空調系統採用日本電裝出品。全數嶼巴青年合共可運載七十三位乘客，包括三十一個座位及四十二個企位。一如早前購入的猛獅NL263及273，青年均有設置行李架，而目前流行的外趟式中門，並沒有在這批青年上出現，採用的仍然是傳統式閘門。
首架青年JNP6122GR1於二零一零年九月底抵港，在完成一連串檢驗及出牌程序，於二零一零年十月十九日出牌，並於十月二十七日正式投入服務，行走往返逸東及東涌鐵路站的38路線，隨後三架出牌新車亦被安排服務東涌北路線。而經過一段時間在東涌區行走，嶼巴於二零一一年一月中陸續安排青年行走連接深圳灣口岸的B2及B2P路線。值得一提的地方是，青年初期投入嶼巴車隊服務期間，車隊編號是MN，亦即緊隨隊中一眾猛獅巴士之後，但在二零一零年十二月十二日開始，嶼巴重新把青年編制由MN更改為YM。
這批國產的城巿巴士，不論在舒適及乘坐感覺方面，不遜於其他歐洲品牌出品，嶼巴亦於隨後加訂五架青年JNP6122GR1，於二零一一年八月抵港投入服務，取代車隊中的英國中型單層巴士。除了嶼巴之外，青年亦成功得到珀麗灣客運及城巴的垂青，先後獲得新車訂單。
二零一二年，嶼巴為了取代隊中二手的猛獅NL262大型低地台巴士，再向青年增購第三批配用ZF Ecolife系列波箱的JNP6122GR1，總數十四架新車於二零一二年十一月陸續付運抵港，當中首批六架新車車頂鬆上黃色，用於行走冠忠集團營運的機場停機坪客運服務，餘下新車亦緊隨於十二月平安夜開始，投入東涌區內路線服務巿民，並使嶼巴成為全港最大青年巴士用家。二零一三年九月，兩架原先服務於機場禁區的青年 (YM23及24) 加入嶼巴車隊，而兩架青年很易便在車隊中被辨認出來，因為原先的黃色車頂被保留下來。 另外，YM23 (SE7941)及24 (SE7510)跟YM15 (RV739)一樣車廂是採用銀灰色扶手柱，有別於其他成員的黃色扶手柱。
二零一八年年初，嶼巴替部份青年JNP6122GR1巴士更換原有電子路線牌成Lite Vision產品。
The story of buses made in China in Hong Kong started in early 90s, City Bus bought 3 Norinco Neoplan BN316 for long distanced cross-border service between mainland China and Hong Kong. However, after the City Bus sample, only the Norinco Neoplan buses owned by the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison followed and then no more new China made buses in Hong Kong. Since 2004, coaches made in China started to enter service in Hong Kong and ended the age of the domination of Japan made coach in the market.
For the market of franchised and the city bus, the European buses still is the mainstream but there are some relationships among the operator and the bus manufacturers in the mainland. A KMB Leyland Olympian 11m was rebodied by Guangzhou Goodview since the original Walter Alexander body was burnt. To go one step further, some new buses were completed their bodywork kits from UK in China and this become more common since 2009. Hong Kong Airport Services Ltd (HAS) introduced the first China made city bus in 2009 and this followed by The Big Bus Company which introduced Ankai open-top double decker. It was not easy for commuters to experience the China made buses until the YoungMan JNP6122GR1 full-sized super low floor bus introduced by NLB in 2010.
The YoungMan Group is a joint-venture with Neoplan and MAN from Germany, Lotus from UK in China. The YoungMan Group focused on commercial vehicles, city buses and the parts manufacturing. The product range of YoungMan included Neoplan buses, MAN trucks and automobiles jointly manufactured with Lotus. The JNP6122GR1 of NLB is featured with a fully monocoque bodywork and this technique is from Neoplan. A Euro V standard MAN engine with Voith transmission was chosen, the air-conditioning unit supplied by Nippon Denso. Each NLB YoungMan JNP6122GR1 can accommodate 73 passengers with 31 seating and 42 standees. A luggage rack was provided as on the MAN NL263 and NL273 before. The centre exit was sliding doors instead of the plug-doors commonly used at present.
The first YoungMan JNP6122GR1 was delivered to Hong Kong in late Sep., 2010 and first registered on 19, Oct., 2010. The YoungMan mainly served the Tung Chung new town when they first entered service since Oct., 2010, and from the mid. of Jan., 2011, NLB started to deploy YoungMan on ShenZhen Bay Port routes B2 and B2P. The YoungMan JNP6122GR1 is first classed as MN, followed the MAN-series immediately, but this was changed to YM since 12, Dec., 2010.
5 more YoungMan JN6122GR1s were ordered. The second batch of YoungMan was delivered in Aug., 2011 and entered service as a replacement of the midibuses from UK in the fleet. In terms of comfort, all YoungMan left a good impression on passengers. YoungMan was successfully gained purchasing orders from Park Island Transport and City Bus.
A further purchasing order of 14 YoungMan JNP6122GR1 was made in 2012 and started to deliver since Nov., 2012. The first six were painted with yellow roof and deployed on the internal transport within the restricted area of the airport operated by Kwoon Chung Group. The balance of the order was started to deliver in Dec., 2012 and licensed on the silent night of 2012. NLB operated the largest fleet of YoungMan after their commissioned. The feature of the third batch of NLB YoungMan is ZF Ecolife transmission was chosen instead of Voith in the previous order.
Two YoungMan, YM23 (SE7941) and 24 (SE7510), used to run the service within the ramp inside airport joined NLB in Sep., 2013 and the outstanding yellow coloured roof was retained. In addition, as the first of the batch, YM15(RV739), the handrail of YM23 and 24 within the cabin is silver-grey in colour in contrast with the yellow handrail find on the other members.
Some of the YoungMan JNP6122GR1 were replaced with Lite Vision electronic route display in early 2018.
