都城嘉慕都城型 Metro Cammell Weymann Metrobus
There is still one Metro Cammell Weymann Metrobus in NWFB fleet and used as training bus. It is an bus antique in Hong Kong as it was already 28 years old.
In 1978, CMB tried to upgrade the service standard of Stanley routes to attract people travelled by bus instead of driving their cars, they introduced a batch of 12 Metrobus from Metro Cammell Weymann. All of them are 9.7m long with 2+2 coach seat seating arrangement. When compared with Damiler Fleetline, Metrobus was much advanced in design and specification like Voith fully automatic gearbox was chosen. Those Metrobuses were serving Stanley route 260 until the comissioned of Dennis Dart. Afterwards, they were deployed on 13 and 63 until 1998, when NWFB took over the networks of CMB. At that time, Metrobus not only serving Southern District but also Eastern District routes like 84M.
As NWFB declared that they will replaced all non air-con buses by new, air-con and super low floor buses. Metrobus were on the list to be withdrawn as they were 19 years old in 1998. MC2, 6&7 were coverted to use as traning bus after withdrawal. All the seats at the upper deck were removed and the staircase also removed. At present, only one Metrobus training bus still in service and repainted with new livery of NWS Transport.
