丹尼士三叉戟 Dennis Trident

在二零零三年,各間巴士公司分別向其他巴士公司出售剩餘的巴士,當中表表者非新巴莫屬。在二零零四年,新巴向九鐵成功出售三十架十點六米丹尼士三叉戟,以取代九鐵中的都城嘉慕都城型。

也許是當天因西鐵通車所帶來的接駁服務,不論在需求及模式都超出九鐵估計之內,令到本認為可以削減的巴士服務出現超負荷,不得不令有關方面在這方面再作調整。雖然向新巴租用巴士可以紓緩車隊短缺問題,但長遠來說九鐵巴士部必需自給自足,以及都城巴士已屆退役之齡,購買新巴士是絕對有必要,可是新車訂購亦要時間,碰巧新巴及城巴成為姊妹公司後,所作的網絡重整時出現車隊過剩,有意出售手上過剩的巴士,於是乎促成十點六米三叉戟加盟九鐵巴士部。

三叉戟對於九鐵巴士部並不算是甚麼新鮮事,早於二零零零年中,九鐵已經購進二十二架十一點三米版本三叉戟新巴士,同樣配上亞歷山大提供的ALX500車身。雖然由同一車身供應商提供車身,但在外觀上還是有少許分別:第一,來自新巴的三叉戟樓梯旁板採用玻璃襯壁,而九鐵本身購進的新車則採用類似樣板車的設計,簡單地用上金屬旁板。第二,九鐵十一點三米三叉戟採用的車身屬於後期的改良版,而新巴則屬較早期的版本,感覺上較渾圓,尤其從車尾看易察覺兩者分別。

首批十點六米三叉戟由二零零四年十一月初陸續停牌並進行驗車等工序,以及拆除原有的乘客資訊系統。其中數部更於交付九鐵前鬆上九鐵巴士部色彩。 經過一連串準備,首批巴士終於在十二月中投入服務,部份更帶有新巴色彩服務乘客,在投入服務後主要服務於屯門,元朗及天水圍區各接駁路線。隨後在零四年十二月底開始,共有八架「新」車(713-718,741及742)則獲派到東鐵接駁路線服務,成為首批為東鐵乘客服務的九鐵低地台巴士。為了行走以大棠為總站的K66路線需要,720及729兩架三叉戟成為港鐵巴士中最先裝有車尾閉路電視的巴士,這裝置不單隨後推廣至全數三叉戟,而且成為除三菱MK中型巴士外,其他車款的標準裝置。

為了配合輕鐵路線及相關接駁服務調整,以及加快車隊空調及低地台化進度,九鐵巴士部於二零零五年先後再向新巴購入為數十二架及五架十點六米三叉戟,並分別於同年三月及九月陸續投入服務,除745被編入東鐵部外,其餘新車全數留守新界西北服務巿民。

隨著九鐵跟地鐵於二零零七年十二月二日合併成港鐵,所有九鐵巴士部巴士已經轉由港鐵巴士部營運。當西鐵延伸至紅磡以及接駁路線K16停辦,東鐵部於二零一零年九月開始把剩餘的巴士,亦是全數三叉戟轉往西鐵部,至此所有三叉戟聚首於西鐵部路線。在港鐵巴士替全數車隊更換車身色彩時,743於二零零九年九月尾成為第四架換上新色彩的港鐵巴士,是十點六米版本三叉戟中最早一架轉換新色彩。全數十點六米三叉戟亦於二零一一年首季完成換裝工作,當中747是最後一架獲翻鬆新色彩。

踏入二零一五年,港鐵巴士開始淘汰十點六米三叉戟,逐漸由簇新的亞歷山大丹尼士Enviro500MMC以及富豪B9TL所取代,首架退役的是737(JD1982),於二零一五年三月五日正式除牌退役,而截至二零一六年十二月十四日,只餘下719(JC8013)及723(JD1704)仍在車隊中服務乘客。

NWFB sold many surplus buses to other bus operators or other countries in 2003 and 2004 including 30 Dennis Trident 10.6m which sold to KCRC Bus Division. 

The background of this story was based on the commenced of West Rail. The original plan of reconstruction of feeder service networks cannot meet the demand and give a great pressure on the feeder bus fleet. Though the problem was then solved by hiring buses from NWFB, the most effective solution was KCRC Division to acquire more buses. To go one step further, it was time to replace the aging Metrobus in the fleet. As NWFB had a surplus fleet of Dennis Trident and KCRC already operated a batch of 11.3m Trident, the introduction of 10.6m Trident from NWFB was resulted. 

All Trident in the fleet were fitted with Alexander ALX500 bodyworks. There are some differences between two batches of Trident. The aluminium sheet staircase panel is seen on 11.3m Trident while those acquired from NWFB, matt black glazing was used. In addition, modified version of ALX500 bodyworks were chosen on 11.3m Trident and this can be distinguished more easily from the rear. 

The first batch of KCRC Dennis Trident 10.6m were commissioned in the mid of Dec. 2004 and mainly served with LRT and West Rail feeder services in Tune Mun, Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai. One thing had to be mentioned that some of the Trident still painted with NWFB livery when they commenced into service. In the end of Dec. 2004, fleet no. 713-718, 741 and 742 were commenced into service on East Rail feeder service and to be the first low floor bus served on these service. 720 and 729 are the first two buses in KCRC Bus Division with rear-circuit television for the need of K66, one side of terminus located at Tai Tong. The rear-circuit television were then introduced to all KCRC buses except the Mitsubishi MK.

As the further reconstruction of LRT and related feeder service networks as well as the upgrade of the feeder bus fleet service standard, KCRC Bus Division introduced 17 more 10.6m Trident from NWFB with two batches. All of them were entered to service in Mar and Sept, 2005 respectively with only 745 deployed on East Rail feeder service.

KCRC were merged into MTR on 2, Dec. 2007 and all buses of KCRC Bus Division now are operated by MTR Bus Division. As the need of feeder bus decreased after the extension of West Rail commenced in Sept., 2010, East Rail feeder transferred all the surplus Dennis Trident to West Rail Section. When MTR Bus started to applied the new colour scheme, 743 is the fourth MTR Bus to be repainted with the new MTR Bus Division livery in the end of Sept. 2009. All Dennis Trident completed the work of repainting the new livery and among the, 747 is the last to received it new clothe.

As the commission of the brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro500MMC and the Volvo B9TL, besides the Volvo Olympian, MTR Bus also withdrawn the second hand Dennis Trident 10.6m since 2105 and the first to be retired is 737(JD1982), delicensed on 5 Mar ., 2015. Until 14 Dec., 2016, only two Dennis Trident (719/JC8013 and 723/JD1704) left in MTR Bus.
