猛獅 A84 MAN A84

愉景灣與德國猛獅車廠長久的合作關係始於二零零零年,隨著當年愉景灣隧道開通,為了配合開辦愉景灣至東涌巿中心及機場的路線,五架猛獅NL262大型低地台巴士及兩架13.220客車,被引進到愉景灣,並成為繼同樣來自德國的平治及英國丹尼士之後,車隊中的第三家歐洲品牌。自此之後,每當需要購入新巴士作更新車隊及擴展服務時,猛獅都能取得訂單,亦令愉景灣漸漸成為一個猛獅巴士集中地,吸引不同巴士愛好者前來尋找及乘坐不同型號的猛獅巴士。

愉景灣車隊於二零零六年出現了一款全新的猛獅大型單層巴士:A84,這架A84雖說是猛獅出品,但郤並非像早年愉景灣購入的同廠出品一樣來自德國。這裡要先說有關猛獅跟中國的一個故事,為了替產品打入中國巿場,不少外國車廠都會跟國內車廠合作,其中猛獅跟位於鄭洲的宇通車廠合資成立了猛獅客車,除了利用猛獅技術開發新底盤,更重要會利用原廠猛獅部件,在國內裝配成型供應予不同用家,而愉景灣這次購入的A84底盤,正正是國內猛獅客車利用德國猛獅原廠組件組裝而成。

至於車身方面,愉景灣交通服務有限公司未有替這輛A84選取歐洲廠家出品,而是由較早時間購入行走機場路線的猛獅18.310車身供應商,來自馬來西亞的順豐提供,亦由這架A84巴士開始,順豐成為了日後愉景灣購入猛獅巴士時候,指定的車身供應商。在運抵馬來西亞完成車身裝嵌後,整架A84車廂內部都貫徹了愉景灣車隊的標準,設有大型行李架,供乘客擺放隨身物件,而全車可運載六十八名乘客,但當中三十七人卻未能享有座位。對比其他德國原廠製造的NL系列成員,A84未能提供全低地台車廂,低地台區域到了車廂中部便告終止。

這架猛獅A84在投入服務後主要被安排行走區內路線C9及隨後的T4,鮮有出現在連接東涌或欣澳的對外路線。雖然外表上跟其他同配順豐車身猛獅低地台巴士沒有太大分別,這架憑著與別不同的背景,在愉景灣車隊中別樹一幟的猛獅巴士,最終在行走十二個年頭之後,於二零一八年八月被簇新的猛獅NL323大型低地台巴士所取代。

The long-term relationships between Discovery Bay and MAN of Germany was begun in 2000 with the opening of the Discovery Bay Tunnel. DBTSL acquired a batch of 5 MAN NL262 and a pair of MAN 13.220 for the use on service linking the community and Tung Chung Town Centre and the Airport respectively. MAN was the third Europe brand in DBTSL fleet after the introduction of Mercedes Benz from Germany and Dennis of UK and become the important bus supplier during fleet renewal or networks expansion. Many bus enthusiasts visiting Discovery Bay for enjoying a MAN bus trip as it was easy to find different MAN bus model within the community.

This A84 acquired by DBTSL was came form China instead of Germany as the other NL-series in the fleet, it was assembled by Lions Bus, a joint venture of MAN and Yutong in China, with the parts supplied by MAN. There should be a brief description of Lions Bus, it was established by MAN for entering the market of the mainland and instead of assembling the MAN chassis from parts imported from Germany, Lions Bus also developed their own product with the help of technique provided by MAN.

The bodywork of the MAN A84 was completed by Gemilang in Malaysia which already supplied two sets of bodywork on the MAN 18.310 of DBTSL for the use on airport service. Starting from this sole A84, Gemilang was successfully become the main body supplier for all MAN chassis purchased by DBTSL. The total carrying capacity of the MAN A84 was 31 seatings with 37 standees and unliked the MAN NL-series, the low floor area only provided between the entrance and the exit, In addition, a luggage rack was provided within the compartment which is the standard of the DBTSL fleet and

This single MAN A84 mainly served on the internal service C9 and T4 and it was a rare sight for observing it on the external routes. Finally, this unique sample was serving Discovery Bay for 12 years and replaced by a brand new MAN NL323 in Aug., 2018.
