丹尼士三叉戟十點三米 Dennis Trident 10.3m

城巴非專利部門車隊數目，自二零零三年開始因應營運環境轉變而不斷萎縮，每當有巴士退役時候，非專利部亦未有因而購入全新巴士作替代，只是從新巴及城巴車隊中調入巴士作替換。踏入二零一八年第三季，城巴非專利車隊因應相關環保條例要求下，需要再次進行更新工作，而用作代替現有車隊的巴士全數來自新巴，當中包括十四架於二零零二年投入服務，配都普矮車身的十點三米丹尼士三叉戟。

早於這批三叉轉加入前，城巴非專利部已經於二零一五年從營運二部車隊中，先後抽調三架配都普標準高度車身的十二米三叉戟至非專利部，兩者除了長度及高度各異外，來自新巴的十點三米三叉戟引擎全數均符合歐三排放標準。被選中加入城巴非專利部的三叉戟，自二零一八年第二季開始，陸續進行翻新工程以及重新翻噴城巴企業色彩後，正式從新巴車隊名冊中，轉至城巴非專利部繼續服務乘客，當中除887 (KR7057)外，其餘成員均被換上Lite Vision橙色LED電子路線牌箱。

首部服務乘客的城巴十點三米三叉戟是889 (前新巴3349/KR8155)，於二零一八年八月二十五日首航88R線，隨後其他成員亦漸次加入城巴非專利部，接替原先的富豪奧林比安。同樣因相關環保條例所限，這批矮車身丹尼士三叉戟注定在城巴車隊中只是一名過客，踏入二零二零年七月，881，886及889率先退役，並駛到廢車場拆毀，截至二零二零年九月中為止，只有五架十點三米三叉戟仍然留守非專利部，餘下都被來自營運一部的亞歷山大丹尼士Enviro500所取代。

The fleet size of the City Bus non-franchised sector keep reducing as the change of the operation environment since 2003. In the past decade, different bus models were transferred to the non-franchised sector from City Bus or NWFB as a replacement of the aging members. The non-franchised fleet need to renew again in the third quarter of 2018 as a result of impose of the related environmental ordinance. All the acquired buses came from NWFB including a batch of 14 Dennis Trident 10.3m with low-bridge bodywork supplied by Duple Metsec.

Dennis Trident was not a new thing to the non-franchised sector as a batch of 3 Dennis Trident 12m with standard height Duple Metsec bodywork already acquired from Operations Department Two in 2015. The main difference among this two batch of Trident is the 10.3m version was Euro 3 standard while the other batch was Euro 2 standard only. NWFB transferred the Trident 10.3m to City Bus since the second quarter of 2018 and refurbishment works was carried out including replaced the original Hanover route display with Lite Vision orange coloured LED display (with 887/KR7057 as an exception) and repainted the standard City Bus corporate livery.

The first City Bus Dennis Trident 10.3m (889, ex-NWFB 3349/KR8155) entered service on 25 Aug., 2018 serving route 88R and the role playing by the Volvo Olympian was then gradually taken by the ex-NWFB Trident. All low-bridge Trident also need to face the restriction of the environmental ordinance and after almost 2 years of service in the City Bus non-franchised sector, 881, 886 and 889 were withdrawn from service and scrapped in Jul., 2020 and until mid. of Sep., 2020, only 5 Trident 10.3m still in service and finally will be replaced by the Enviro500 from Operations Department One.
