丹尼士三叉戟十點六米(都普車身) Dennis Trident 10.6m (Duple Metsec bodywork)

二零零零年,新巴除了忙於接收全新訂購的富豪超級奧林比安及Neoplan Centroliner,同時接收了一架非標準車廂配置的丹尼士三叉戟十點六米新車。新巴特別引入這架三叉戟,源於同年一宗牽涉到丹尼士三叉戟事故有關,車隊編號3004(HX5101)因為駕駛室附近的電路板過熱,發生火警令到巴士局部焚燬,最後調查結果顯示是廠方設計失誤所致,為了賠償事件引致之損失,丹尼士向新巴提供一架丹尼士三叉戟十點六米,這就是隊中唯一配用都普標準高度車身的3601(JT480)。

3601原是丹尼士製作的十點六米三叉戟樣板車,曾在英國等地作宣傳用途,故此雖然配用都普車身,但若干車廂設計及部件都有所分別。首先,3601車廂怖局採用綠色作為基本色調,同時座位上方設有小型行李架,而在投入服務初期更設有車窗太陽簾,使到整個車廂規格接近客車標準。另外,配置於3601車廂內的Lazzerini Pratico款式座椅,同樣是首次出現於香港,同款座椅一直要到二零零八年,九鐵引進的亞歷山大丹尼士Enviro200Dart時,才再獲本港巴士公司垂青。另外,3601採用當時不常見的外趟式中門,而同款設計就只有當年行走城巴機場快線的三叉戟採用。

由於當初配用來自德國的Lawo-Luminator-Europa電子路線牌箱未能正常運作,故此3601在投入服務初期,只獲編配行走往海怡半島及香港仔的595循環線,最終新巴未有將相關路線牌修復,而直接以車隊沿用的Hanover產品取代之,自此之後3601便得以活躍於不同的新巴路線。

隨著配亞歷山大車身的十點六米三叉戟於二零一七年十月全數退役,3601便成為新巴車隊中唯一一架十點六米三叉戟,並預計將於二零一八年退役。目前3601主要服務以勵德邨作總站的路線,包括往返荷里活道的26及柴灣興華邨的81號線

The introduction of this sole Trident 10.6m with standard height Duple Metsec bodywork was related to an accident involving a NWFB Dennis Trident 12m. 3004(HX5101) caught fire one night in 2000 and investigation stated that the cause of the accident was the faulty design of the circuit fitted on the Trident. As a part of compensation, Dennis delivered a Trident used to be a demonstrator around UK to NWFB and this is the sole Trident 10.6m with standard height bodywork supplied by Duple Metsec, 3601(JT480).

being a demonstrator, the body parts and the design of the compartment is different from the standard Duple Metsec bodywork fitted on Dennis Trident. The theme colour of the compartment is green and the layout is almost the same as a coach with adjustable sun blinds and small personal luggage racks fitted. The seat fitted on 3601 is Pratico model from Lazzerini which first seen in Hong Kong and it was unique until 2008, when KCRC Bus Division ordered a batch of 11 Alexander Dennis Enviro200Dart , Lazzerini Pratico seats were fitted. To go one step further, a plug door was fitted on 3601 as exit and only Cityflyer applied the same type of door at that time.

Electronic route display supplied by Lawo-Luminator-Europa, a German manufacturer and this is the only Lawo product in Hong Kong . However, as the display cannot be function, 3601 only serving circular route 595 running between South Horizons and Aberdeen during it early days of service. The Lawo display was eventually replaced by the standard Hanover product and 3601 was then serving different routes within NWFB networks afterwards.

After the fully retirement of the Alexander ALX500 bodywork Trident 10.6m in Oct., 2017, 3601 to be the only Trident 10.6m left in NWFB and expected to be withdrawn in 2018 and at present, 3601 is mainly stationed at Lai Tak Tsuen serving route 26 to Hollywood Road and route 81 heading Hing Wah Estate in Chai Wan.
