丹尼士三叉戟十點六米 Dennis Trident 10.6m

新巴車隊主要是由各款長度不同的丹尼士三叉戟組成,那麼怎會缺少十點六米版的三叉戟呢?在新巴車隊中,共有六十三架十點六米三叉戟,當中六十二架(1601-1602)是配由亞歷山大提供的改良版ALX500車身,於一九九九年中開始投入服務,而是批巴士也是全港首批亞歷山大短車身低地台巴士,當中1601更曾經貼有一條設計成間尺的橫額廣告,標榜其短小車身的特點,另外,1620更是新巴第四百架新巴士。而餘下一架的三叉戟(3601),則配有都普標準高度車身,跟九巴的首批十點六米三叉戟(ATS1-50)相似,同時也是唯一一架十點六米都普車身三叉戟,於二零零零年九月初投入服務。

新巴所有配亞歷山大車身十點六米三叉戟投入服務後,除了主要行走赤柱及半山路線,亦曾試行石澳路線,但最後卻被十點三米的同門兄弟接替這艱鉅任務,再之後十點六米三叉戟便成為新巴車隊中的百搭,駛上了寶馬山服務乘客,又偶爾行走東區幹線8及19,而已取消的M21線,也曾由一眾披上國泰車身廣告的十點六米三叉戟掛帥,而南區多條路線如4,94A,590A,M590,595及泳季假日線也不難發現十點六米三叉戟的蹤影。而部份十點六米三叉戟曾經於車頭位置加設樹檔,以適合行走山區路線需要。

至於配都普車身的3601,於二零零零年來港,3601其實是一架丹尼士三叉戟樣板車,曾在外地用作宣傳,及後被運來港投入新巴旗下。3601在規格上跟其他三叉戟有好些分別,例如車內Lazzerini座椅之設計是跟其他常見的Lazzerini座椅有所分別,中門是採用外趟形式,跟城巴客車版的三叉戟(Cityflyer)如出一轍。另外在投入服務初時,其電子牌箱是德國Lawo-Luminator-Europa出品,亦由於此,3601的牌箱曾有一段時間未能運作,直到及後改為Hanover出品為止。3601在初期主要行走海怡半島595路線,其後曾被安排於26,46X,81及109等線。

在經過網絡重整後,新巴出現車隊過剩現象,由二零零四年年尾開始,至二零零五年尾止,新巴將車隊中多出共四十七部十點六米三叉戟,分三批轉售予九廣鐵路巴士部,當中包括上文提及的首架十點六三叉戟1601及新巴第四百架巴士1620。

目前,新巴車隊中的十點六米三叉戟常見於不同路線服務乘客。

The fleet of NWFB is mainly composed of Dennis Tridents with different length including those 10.6m model. There was 63 10.6m Dennis Trident in NWFB fleet and 62 of them were fitted with Walter Alexander ALX500 modified version bodyworks and entered service in the mid. of 1999. To promote their shorter bodywork, a ruler designed banner was applied on 1601. Moreover, 1620 is the 400th new bus in the fleet. While the remaining one, fleet no. 3601, is fitted with Duple Metsec standard height bodywork. The appearance is similar to those Trident 10.6m with Duple Metsec bodyworks (ATS1-50) in KMB. 3601 started it service life since Sept., 2000 and it is also the only Trident 10.6m with Duple Metsec bodywork within the fleet.

After the commissioned of all 10.6m Tridents with ALX500 bodyworks, they mainly served Stanley and mid-level routes. They also served Shek O route as trial but they eventually replaced by 10.3m Tridents. In addition, those Trident can also be seen on routes serving Braemer Hill, trunk routes of Eastern District like 8 and 19. Some 10.6m Tridents decorated with all-over Cathay Pacific advertisements were deployed on route M21 before the cancellation of the service. In Southern District, 10.6m Tridents mainly served routes like 4, 94A, 590A, M590, 595 and holiday routes operated in swimming season. Some Tridents were fitted with 'tree bumper' which made them suitable for the routes passing through hillside road.

3601 was used as demonstrator for overseas market before shipped to Hong Kong in 2000. There are some differences in specification of 3601 and other Tridents. For example, the Lazzerini seats is different in design by other Lazzerini seats commonly seen in Hong Kong. Sliding doors as the centre exit like the Cityflyer of City Bus was chosen in 3601. The original electronic display was supplied by a German company Lawo-Luminator-Europa, however, this display cannot function in early days until it was changed to a Hanover product. 3601 was served South Horizons route 595 after entering service and afterwards, 3601 now mainly serving route 26, 81 and 109.

As there were surplus buses after the networks reconstruction, three batches of 47 Dennis Trident 10.6m were sold to KCRC Bus Division between the end of 2004 and the end of 2005. The first in the fleet and the 400th NWFB buses mentioned before were also included.

It is a common scene for the remaining Trident 10.6m in the fleet serving on different routes within the NWFB networks.
